The candidates
What to look for in a candidate
We encourage members to choose candidates who will commit to holding a meaningful AGM, presenting the financials, and engaging properly with the community, not simply as a tick-box exercise. Integrity matters, as the Maqbarah generates millions in burial fees annually, and its custodians hold that responsibility on behalf of the community, not as owners.
What we can estimate
Official financials have not been made available to members. Based on publicly available burial information, one member compiled the following estimate for July 2026:
- Adult GraveR2,500 × 132 burials
- R330,000
- Baby (0–1 year)R350 × 1
- R350
- Still BornR350 × 3
- R1,050
- LimbR350 × 3
- R1,050
- Month total
- R332,450
- Extrapolated to a year
- ≈ FOUR MILLION RANDApproximately R3,989,400
This is a community estimate based on public burial data, not the official financial statements. Expenses and other income (donations, tree sales, flowers) remain unknown, as the Board did not provide bank statements or financials when requested.
Know that your vote is an Amanah. Cast it with absolute integrity, knowing our ultimate accountability is to the Almighty alone, not to any individual.
